MY FAVORITE CRAYON WAS CERULEAN (2023)

As you may already know, this was a year of exploration and discovery in the studio. I wanted to push my comfort zone and try new things, but as you can imagine- that’s hard as an adult. (Making yourself do something you aren’t initially good at seems counterintuitive.)

So I thought back to a time when I truly just created art for the sake of art. No worries about grades, or critiques, or sales- just being creative with no end goal in mind. And I immediately thought of elementary school. I’m not sure about your early art experiences, but mine were all about having fun. Wrapping paper collages, watercolor suns, simple landscapes with lollipop trees. It might not have been the “best” technically speaking, but it was full of love and enthusiasm.

So that is what this collection celebrates- the fun and freedom to explore, and the beauty that comes from it.
