I was going to say “teaching an old dog new tricks” but 1) I’m not old (I can’t even say middle aged because I hope I at LEAST make it to my eighties and I’m not even 40 yet) and 2) This isn’t exactly a new trick.

Note to self: remember to wear gloves. (Just call me Violet Beauregarde, I guess.)

This moment right here- where I get to see someone experiencing my work in real time- is one of my most favorite things. The studio gets quiet and if you listen closely you almost always hear the deep inhale that comes at the start of really LOOKING

So true. Sometimes painting feels like the only way I can truly speak. (Which says a lot because I talk pretty much non stop. I'm even reading this out loud as I type to make sure it "sounds" like me haha)
