I was going to say “teaching an old dog new tricks” but 1) I’m not old (I can’t even say middle aged because I hope I at LEAST make it to my eighties and I’m not even 40 yet) and 2) This isn’t exactly a new trick.

Note to self: remember to wear gloves. (Just call me Violet Beauregarde, I guess.)

This moment right here- where I get to see someone experiencing my work in real time- is one of my most favorite things. The studio gets quiet and if you listen closely you almost always hear the deep inhale that comes at the start of really LOOKING

It's my husband's birthday!!! He is absolutely wonderful and I can't wait to start celebrating once he's back from class.

Now I have to run decorate the apartment and pick up his ice cream cake* from Ben & Jerry's before he comes home! See you all tomorrow :)

*I'm baking his cake for this weekend's festivities, (a football inspired two tiered concoction to not only celebrate J's birthday but also celebrate the long awaited beginning of the UGA football season- yes we are those fans) but for actual birthdays (as in the day of) we have a tradition of buying each other ice cream cakes since they are our favorite kind of cakes!
